Ottawa

Over the next week and a bit I got to head out and explore Ottawa on my own.

The first day in Ottawa, I stayed close to home only exploring the little shopping centre near the house and also starting my obsession with Tim Hortons. I also used that day to make sure that I was on the correct time and that I was feeling pretty ok with how I wanted the week to go. I also watched a lot of Netflix and YouTube, just relaxing into the less active part of my holiday.

The first Monday in Ottawa, I headed downtown to the Rideau Centre and to explore a bit of the city. Now the plan was to wander out into the city and explore the area before a brief stop in the mall before heading back to the house. What really happened is that I kept walking in circles around the mall and just went shopping. I did make it out of the mall and even crossed the canal passed the Chateau Laurier but the weather was too hot and humid for me at that time so I headed back into the mall and grabbed a Starbucks before wandering around the mall some more and then heading home.

The rest of the week followed a pattern. I would head out to Tim Hortons to get a coffee and then I would either go shopping or stick around the house and relax or write. In that week I headed out to the strip mall by where I caught the bus and did some shopping there. I also headed out to another mall with my aunt with the particular purpose of looking for a bigger handbag than I had come on holiday with. Eventually while watching a haul video from one of my favourite YouTubers who is based in Canada, I found the bag that I was looking for and on that Saturday I headed back into the Rideau Centre to look for the bag. Unfortunately, I could not find the exact back that I wanted but I did find a similar one.

By the weekend I had tried traditional Poutine and even been daring enough to try and eat a doughnut. I was lucky with that last one. I haven't had anything with gluten in it for a few years but recently I have been wanting to try and see if I was really still intolerant to gluten or if I could eat it in small pieces, but I had always been hesitant to do that as if I did react and all I had was a piece of bread than that would not be worth it. But luckily I did not react and I have been having doughnuts and other treat food since then.

Sunday was Thanksgiving dinner for us and my other cousin and other family came over for dinner. My cousin brought her dog along. This was my first proper thanksgiving as it is not a holiday of any sort at home. Dinner was pretty good although the vegetables that we had were not ones that I was used to.

Monday was actually the actual Thanksgiving holiday so we had a lazy start to the morning and dropped my cousin back off at her apartment around lunch time. The rest of the day was spent relaxing in a food coma hangover from the night before. Thanks, Turkey.

Tuesday for me was pretty busy. I was travelling down to Tampa the next morning so I had to make sure that I was packed and ready to go as I had an early flight. I also made sure that this blog was moving along and I had some posts ready to go live while I was away. Tuesday ended with an early night and an alarm set for 3:30 am.
